Bisbee & Hereford - Jan 28 ,2016

We've met and made some good friends here at Fort Huachuca, Carolyn & Dar from Washington State.  Carolyn and I walk/hike each morning while the guys talk trucks and mechanical stuff.  Also interesting is our morning visitor, Mr. Road Runner.  He comes over every morning and torments Molly.

The four of us went to Bisbee on Wednesday and enjoyed a great meal at Santiago's Cantina.   While in Bisbee we saw some interesting things, such as metal pig statues and a smart car towing a trailer.

On our way home through Hereford, we stopped to see the Shrine of Our Lady of the Sierras.  Unfortunately, we got there late in the day, so I was unable to get any good pictures of the scenery.

High on a hill in the Huachuca Mountains, a 75 foot Celtic Cross beckons visitors to come closer, and a large angel with open arms welcomes visitors to the Shrine. Our Lady of the Sierras Shrine, completed in 1998, extends a serene invitation for travelers of all faiths.  Consisting of a Cross, 31-foot Madonna figure, a chapel, and beautiful scenery.

Fort Huachuca, AZ (pronounced Wa choo ka) and surrounding area - Jan 19 -Jan 23, 2016

We arrived on the 19th in Sierra Vista, AZ safe and sound. We are staying at the Apache Flats RV Resort on Fort Huachuca.  As soon as we were setup we headed over to see Brian, Kelly and Sammy.

Kelly's surgery was postponed due to some insurance issues, so we are in the area enjoying our RV neighbors and of course our grand daughter, Sammy.

Saturday, Sammy & I went hiking in Ramsey Canyon and hiked out to Brown Canyon Ranch.

Between 1905 and 1907, James Haverty and his brother, Tom,  built what is today the most prominent building in the canyon, a modest three-room adobe home, now known as the Brown Canyon Ranch House.

Traveling West along I-10 Jan 14 - Jan 18 , 2016

We left Bassfield sadly saying good bye to Chuck and Anita.  Because the temps along I-20 were dropping into the 20's, we decided it best to drive south and head west on I-10.  We spent one night outside of Lake Charles, LA and then headed toward Canyon Lake, TX, planning to visit our friends Carol & Don.   Along the way, the steps on the coach decided to act strange.  They kept trying to open and close as we drove down the highway. We stopped and called Tiffin support for some ideas. T had to tie up the steps until we got to the RV Park.   It happened to be a holiday weekend, so we ended up at a rather run down RV park. Everything else in the area was booked.

We called three places before we found someone who had the parts we needed.  It being a holiday weekend, we were lucky to find a place open on the weekend.  T crawled under the steps to remove the motor and of course needed my help.  I sat on a stool and when I stood up, I tripped and fell backwards landing on my elbow and my bad hip. Klutz that I am.

We were able to connect with Don & Carolyn and  had a wonderful dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant and caught up on the happenings since we last saw each other 1 1/2 years ago.

Luckily the only thing that hurt was my bad hip, when I got up the next morning and I wasn't any worse off than I was before I fell.  After driving 30 minutes to pickup the part and 30 minutes back, we installed the part in the rain and hit the road around.  Had the weather been nice, we would have stayed another day. We drove to Fort Stockton and called it a day.  Stayed overnight and headed to Fort Bliss, TX outside of El Paso.

FINALLY, we were in the land of sunshine and warmth!  We decided to stay an extra day and enjoyed our neighbors in the Fort Bliss RV Park.  We also drove up to Mount Franklin Scenic Overlook and looked out over El Paso where we could see Mexico in the distance.

Where are the Rolling Hills now and what have they been up to, these past couple of months?

In December, we moved from Myrtle Beach State Park to Huntington Beach State Park, about 17 miles south.  At Huntington we were docents, greeters, at Atalya Castle.  We loved the experience.  We got to chat with people from all over the world, who were not in a hurry to get anywhere.

Originally we had planned to be there for three months, Dec, Jan & Feb.  However, our daughter-in-law is having spinal surgery this month and we are headed to Arizona to be with her, our son, Brian and grand daughter during Kelly's recovery.

We left Murrells Inlet Jan 5th, spent a few days at my sister, Lisa's place and then headed to Cross Hill, SC to visit with our friends, Judy & Dan.  Judy was my best friend while growing up.

Dan & Judy, a fun loving couple.
We are now in Bassfield, MS visiting friends, Chuck & Anita, for a couple of days before heading west again.
